Meet Parker

Meet Our Employee:  Parker Wheeldon, Sever/Bartender at Rush Creek Bistro

Parker

Parker is 20 years old.  He is originally from Denver, Colorado and lived there until he was 14.  He then moved to Midland, Michigan where he graduated high school.  Parker has worked at Rush Creek Bistro since September of last year.  He attends Northpoint Bible College in Grand Rapids for his Bachelors of Arts in Ministerial Leadership; however he did attend Delta Community College for two years prior, working towards a degree in Business Management and Marketing.  Parker also is our resident handy man.  He always has his tools in his jeep and is willing to help fix about anything.

What is your Favorite Food to Eat?

While I am always a big fan of steaks and that would typically be my favorite food at a restaurant; I would say that a modified version of the Frisco Burger would be my favorite food to get. My way to order it would be; everything already on the Frisco, plus jalapeno’s, caramelized onions, blue cheese crumbles, and avocado! This makes for a fantastic burger!

What is your Favorite Drink to Make?

I would say any form of a Manhattan up would be my favorite to make. When I was younger, before my grandfather passed away, he would always get a perfect Manhattan straight up with a twist, just a dash of both vermouth’s and three drops of bitters after it had been poured and of course he only used Jim Beam. So this is my favorite thing to make, it has a certain sentimental value to me that no other drink has.

What is your Favorite Position at Rush Creek?

Right now I am both a server and a bartender. It depends on the day, but I love doing both.

What is your Favorite Part about your Job?

My favorite thing about my job is the amount of contact I get with people. Naturally, with my future career I will be communicating quite a bit with people in various different settings. I love this because it has helped me develop and grow my people skills.

Why did you decide to become a Youth Pastor?

Honestly the reason I am becoming a youth pastor is because when I die, if I were to go before God and tell Him that I had done anything else with my life, I know that I would be telling Him that I had not followed the calling he put on my life. In January of 2010 my life was completely turned around as I decided to accept God into my life and Jesus Christ as the King and Lord over me. That same weekend I felt the overwhelming calling on my life to go into the ministry where others might not be willing to go. Whether I end up overseas, or in the slums of an American city; I know that I am going into a mission’s field.

What do you do when you have free time?

When I am not at work, most of my time is spent preparing for school or church. Right now, I do not have the luxury of a ton of free time because of class, church, and work. When I do get time to just relax, I often go out with friends and spend a little time just decompressing. For me this could be watching TV, going to the gym, or discussing the bible with my peers.

Come to Rush Creek Bistro and ask for Parker.  He is a jack of all trades- he can bartend, serve, and work banquets!
